Biography

June R. Klein has over 15 years of experience with high technology companies guiding finance and operations.

In 1999, June opened her private practice in Palo Alto, CA, providing contract services for CFO and Controller Functions. Services include financial statements, planning and budgeting, board packages, business plans, M&A due diligence, structuring financing, contract negotiations, revenue recognition review and cash and risk management. June's background in all areas of finance and sales administration make her an ideal resource for the small venture capital-backed software or e-commerce company that does not yet need a full time CFO or controller, but is growing very rapidly.

At the outset of her career, June joined the public accounting firm of KPMG where she supervised international banking, savings and loan and oil and gas audit engagements. From there, June jumped into high technology and operations starting with Hewlett-Packard as a financial analyst supporting an R&D unit of 200 engineers. Then June joined a pre-IPO software company specializing in computer aided manufacturing for the semiconductor industry. June worked in product management and MIS and enjoyed a steep learning curve in process manufacturing and system implementations.

After six years of professional experience, June attended the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and received her MBA. Her emphasis was management of technology, which included classes in strategic marketing, management of change, MIS, purchasing, manufacturing operations and cost accounting.

June joined Ernst & Young's High Technology Manufacturing Consulting Practice as a senior consultant after completing her MBA. Her consulting experience included a process analysis of inventory shrinkage, FAS 86 policy development, cost management reviews, and acting as data processing manager at a large liquor distributor.

June joined Tandem (now Compaq) in 1990 as a senior financial analyst in the US Sales Division where she was the lead analyst on division expense budgets, outlooks, and analysis. June was quickly promoted to manager of the US Incentive Compensation Group. From there she held positions of increasing responsibility as Plant Controller, Worldwide Cost Accounting Manager, Worldwide Revenue Accounting, Billing and Revenue Recognition Manager, and Region Controller for the Western Region ($185M revenue unit).

June's expertise in building organizations contributed significantly to a small French software components company headquartered in Paris that had just gone public on NASDAQ. June was the US Controller/Director of Finance managing legal, sales administration, shipping and all financial processes of the US subsidiary. June's strength in implementing policy and procedure helped the US operations grow 119% due to two mergers and the growth in the ERP market space. June rebuilt and grew finance and operations from 3 employees to 9 employees.

In addition to an MBA, June attended University of California, Santa Barbara, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Business Economics in 1980, and was selected as the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Economics. June became a Certified Public Accountant in California in 1983. Her professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and affiliations with several women in business and technology groups. June is active in community service, lending her expertise in finance and business planning to her positions on the boards of the Palo Alto Foundation for Education and the JLS Middle School PTA. She is also a member of the League of Women Voters Community Development Advisory Committee and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs.

June resides in Palo Alto, CA with her husband and two children.
